The apartments in Kivistö’s distinctive residential block were completed in three instalments, the last of which opened to residents in August 2020. The vibrant residential block consists of three separate buildings, seven housing cooperatives, and 327 homes. Kivistö has good transport links and is located next to the train station.
The starting point of the plan was to create a cosy and varied street-view complex in a large block, which fits the architectural look of the Kivistö area. On the side of Topaasiaukio (square), the block is bordered by a curved 12-storey building – one-quarter of the Kivistö Colosseum surrounding the square. On the other sides of the block, the buildings rise to the heights of 5 and 6 floors. In addition to the block’s apartments and the parking area located under the deck yard, restaurants and cafés will open close to Topaasiaukio square. Samuli Alonen’s environmental artwork is also located on the edge of the square.
