Architects Soini & Horto Ltd wins architectural competition for a hotel in Kalasatama
Architects Soini & Horto has won a limited invited architectural competition organised by SRV, City of Helsinki and Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA) with a competition work named as ”Hila”. The hotel will be located on a plot connected to REDI.
The purpose of the competition was to find a high-class hotel building with a fresh touch and that fits seamlessly into its’ surroundings in Kalasatama and next to REDI. The planned capacity of the hotel is 200–250 rooms with a restaurant and a café.
The competition rules of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA) were adhered to in the architectural competition. Four architectural offices were asked to enter the invited competition: Architects Soini & Horto Ltd, Tengblom Eriksson Architects Ltd, Helin&Co Architects and Arkkitehtitoimisto K2S Oy.
The jury consisted of SRV’s Executive Vice President Timo Nieminen and REDI Project Director Juhani Katko, Architect Salla Hoppu and Project Manager Tuomas Hakala of the Helsinki City Planning Department, and Architect Mikko Heikkinen, of Arkkitehtuuritoimisto Heikkinen-Komonen Oy, an expert member selected in collaboration with the competition participants.
